Effective date: 11 September 2026
NearlyTeacher is operated by EqualEd AI Ltd ("we", "us" or "our"). This notice explains what information we process, why we process it, and the choices available to learners, parents, guardians and schools.
Information we process
- Account and contact information: name, email address, account role and authentication records.
- Learner profile information: learner identifier, year or class, country, state or region, curriculum selection and the authorised relationship between a learner and an account holder.
- Learning activity: subjects and topics opened, questions shown, answers submitted, results, hints and explanations requested, completion timestamps, progress and review history.
- Device and security information: an app-generated device identifier, session identifiers, approximate network information such as IP address, and limited operational logs used to secure and maintain the service.
- Support information: information included in a support, access, correction or deletion request.
Why we use information
We use this information to authenticate accounts, provide curriculum-appropriate tests, mark answers, show explanations and review history, preserve offline progress, synchronise activity between a device and the learner's account, protect the service, respond to support requests and meet legal obligations.
Offline learning and tutoring
Downloaded learning content and recent progress may be stored on the device so learning can continue without a connection. Account session material is protected using the device's secure storage. Where an optional on-device tutor is available, its processing remains on the device; the verified NearlyTeacher answer remains the educational source of truth.
Service providers and international processing
We use carefully selected infrastructure providers, including Amazon Web Services for database infrastructure, Render for application hosting, and Apple for app distribution. They process information only to provide services to us and are required to protect it. Depending on where a learner lives, information may be processed in another country with appropriate contractual and security safeguards.
Children and school learners
NearlyTeacher is designed for education. A child should use the service only through an account authorised by a parent, guardian or school, as required by applicable law. We limit collection to information needed to provide and protect the learning service. If you believe a child is using NearlyTeacher without the required authorisation, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and learning information only while it is needed to provide the service, maintain educational records requested by the account holder or school, protect the platform, and meet legal requirements. A verified account holder may request access, correction, export or deletion. Deletion may take time to propagate through protected backups, and limited records may be retained where legally required or necessary to prevent fraud and protect children.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict or delete personal information and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. Account deletion is handled through the NearlyTeacher website rather than inside the student mobile app. Requests may be submitted through our support page, and we may need to verify the request and the requester's authority over a learner account.
Security
We use HTTPS in transit, access controls, least-privilege database access, secure mobile session storage and integrity checks for supported offline content. No system is completely secure, but we continuously work to reduce risk and respond to suspected incidents.
Updates and contact
We may update this policy as NearlyTeacher changes. Material updates will be identified on this page. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to:
